Defensible space starts with pullen weeds!

All jobs are done by an estimate of our hourly commitment. Our machine labor rate is $200 per hour for the track loader and attachments. We also bill $200 per hour for the excavator. We only bill for hours worked on the machine. If a job requires both pieces of equipment we do not bill for having an idle machine on site. Some hand work such as raking, leaf blowing, and chainsawing may be needed to facilitate the use of our equipment. For large jobs we may opt for a ground person at $60 an hour. This is typically an off duty firefighter who is under our insurance. We can facilitate major tree work and excavation but may be limited in our scope due to licensing and insurance reasons.

Brush Mowing

Brush mowing is done with our 1800 lb high-flow hydraulic mower deck. The mower can access steep areas wheeled tractors can not. It can articulate and lift up to 10’ high. We can handle brush and small trees up to 10 inches in diameter. It is a closed deck which creates less of a fire risk.

Root and Slash Removal

Removing roots, timber slash, and stumps with our grapple or excavator is a great way reduce reoccurring maintenance and fuel load. Debris can be hauled off in our dump trailer, burned, buried, or composted.

Stump Grinding

Stump Grinding is done with our track loader. It is quick and efficient. A large stump (36'“) generally takes about an hour but it depends on a variety of factors such as access, rocks, wood type, and height of stump. Some stumps may need to be cut lower with a chainsaw prior to grinding.

General Land Management

For larger multi-faceted jobs that involve a combination of all/many of our attachments we generally leave our equipment on site. Billing is done only for working hours. We arrive early and leave late to service machines and clean up the site. We often use ground personnel (off duty firefighters) to operate tools on the ground when needed. We charge $60 an hour for our ground personnel.

Permited Burns

We can run large permitted burns either utilizing a property owners backyard permit or applying for an LE5. We are well versed in the parameters for these types of burns and have the equipment to run them safely. In addition to our heavy equipment we have portable water tanks and pumps, fire hoses and nozzles, and years of firefighting experience.

We experienced first hand the importance of defensible space when the CZU fire came through our mountain community claiming many of our neighbors homes. We decided we wanted to do more help our community qualify for better rates on fire insurance and not lose their property in the next fire. We’re here to help!
